I think I pulled some of that up when I ripped up the subfloor, it was the original linoleum from 1921.

old car repair shops always had a deck of cards and ball peen hammer. Lay the card on say, a thermostat housing and "peck" around the edge with the ball peen. The sharp metal edge cut the paper, pros could make perfect gaskets.
